Update!

For quite some time now I have been trying to lose weight. I have been following the suggestions of numerous diet programs but to no avail. Then I had a talk with my doctor earlier this month and he prescribed Meridia for me. I am very impressed with how it works.

My first week I lost ten pounds and I think I have lost another two or three now. Not bad for just over two weeks! What Meridia does is control my appetite so I don't pig out. I actually take the time to think about whether I am really hungry and I am more careful about what I eat.

My doctor and I also discussed the common knowledge that a person isn't supposed to eat less than 1200 calories a day and that if you do you could send your body into starvation mode where you wouldn't be losing weight at all. He pointed out that this theory defies the law of physics. The less calories I consume and the more I work out the weight is going to come off.

I have had friends give me  lectures though. Telling me that as soon as I go back to my regular eating habits I will gain all the weight back. Well duh. I don 't intend on going back to that way of life. I intend on execising regularly and eating wisely. I have to make changes in my lifestyle and I will.

Everyone is different and there isn't just one answer for everyone. My metabolism is slower than most I guess. At 1200 calories a day I gain weight. So I am going to continue on with this lifestyle and hopefully soon I wll lose the forty pounds I want to! Keep you informed.
